Kathy and Edwin at the Barnwood Living Store

Guest Blog post by Kathy A. Robinson

Edwin and I love visiting places that showcase the TV shows we watch! We've been to the Pioneer Woman's Mercantile, Paula Deen's Lady & Sons Restaurant and Store, Chip and Joanna Gaines' Magnolia Farms, and the American Picker's Antique Archeology store in Nashville, TN.

Our most recent trip was to West Virginia to see several sites on our bucket list. After getting off the interstate, we stopped at the overlook of Sandstone Falls on the New River. The view was spectacular!

We stayed in Hinton at the gorgeous Guest House Inn’s Rosemary Suite. After checking in, we enjoyed relaxing in the Roman tub and getting ready for the next day’s adventure. The kitchen was stocked with a quiche, coffee, cereal, fruit, milk and juice – so we didn’t have to worry about breakfast.

With the Guest House as our home base, drove to Barnwood Living Store, their Boneyard, and the Brad Paisley Park in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia where the Barnwood Builders constructed the Pavilion. Then, we drove to Roanoke, VA to the Black Dog Salvage Shop and got to talk to the co-owner Mike Whiteside!

The drive back was chock full of beautiful views. Once we got back to our B&B, we strolled around picturesque Hinton, WV. We enjoyed seeing friendly faces, beautiful architecture, and brick-paved streets. Since Edwin’s family is from Hinton, we’re planning another visit soon and can’t wait to explore the stores downtown.
